In this April 17, 2009 file photo, Randy Steidl, 57, a former death row inmate, is seen outside his house in Charleston, Ill. Steidl left the Danville Correctional Center in 2004 after spending more than 17 years in prison, including 12 on death row, for a 1986 double murder he didn't commit. On March 27, a federal judge signed off on a $3.5 million settlement in a lawsuit filed by Steidl. Another man, Herb Whitlock, was also convicted for the murders and later released in 2008. He settled his case earlier for an undisclosed amount. AP Photo
