About 250 people attended the Men Cooking for CASA [Court Appointed Special Advocates] event Saturday evening at the Holiday Inn, tasting dishes made by 38 chefs. Ryan Swan was the winner of the main dish with salami and mozzarella with basil aioli. Adam Blackward was named the appetizer winner with bacon wrapped Chorizo stuffed dates. Doug Hester was voted to have the best soup, a chicken poblano corn chowder. Drew Johnson’s bread pudding with butter rum sauce was voted the best dessert. The Peoples Choice Award went to the team of Troy Heitmeyer and Tony Mezo for smoked beef briskets and barbeque baked beans. Chad Curd had the best table decorations, according to a people’s vote. The winners will receive engraved gold skillets, according to CASA Executive Director Becky Whisenhunt. A live auction and silent auction was also held.
