Mt. Vernon Police Department

Arrests

Jeffery L. Currie, 23, of the 900 block of 20th Street, was arrested at 3:19 a.m. Tuesday on charges of obstructing justice and obstructing an officer.

Lorenzo I. Smith, 24, of the 2000 block of Lamar Avenue, was arrested at 12:48 p.m. Tuesday on charges of a probation violation and manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. Bond for Smith has been set at $40,000.

Ernie L. Whipple, 56, of the 10300 block of East Rileyville Road in Dix, was arrested at 6:12 a.m. Wednesday on charges of contempt of court. Bond for Whipple has been set at $3,000.

Thefts

Police received a report at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday that items were taken from a room overnight at Quality Inn.

A report was made at 3:18 p.m. Tuesday that a subject’s walker was stolen while they were in the 1700 block of South 12th Street.

Police received a report at 3:54 p.m. Tuesday that a student could not find their Jeep after having driven it to Mount Vernon Township High School.

A resident in the 1200 block of Shawnee Street reported at 7:02 p.m. Tuesday that an air conditioner unit had been stolen from a window of their residence.

A report was made at 7:33 p.m. Tuesday that a person drove off without paying for gas at Kroger fuel station.

A report was made at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday that a vehicle had been burglarized at Motel 6.

Police received a report at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday that a case of meat was stolen from a sales truck in the 1100 block of Lamar Avenue.

Incidents

A report was made at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday that a window received damage at the Skin Care Center.



Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests

Dale Dudley, 35, of Granite City, was arrested at 11:27 a.m. Tuesday on charges of a probation violation. Bond for Dudley has been set at $15,000.

Thefts

The Sheriff’s Office received a report at 9:28 a.m. Wednesday that a customer drove off without paying the full amount for gas at the Woodlawn Shell station.
