Mary Krause, 22, of the 19000 block of East Fairfield Road, was arrested at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of meth less than 5 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

n Christopher Williams, 28, Bravard Place, was arrested at 4:33 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of meth less than 5 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

n Melanie England, 35, of the 1700 block of Grove Street, was arrested at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant charging failure to appear.

n Edward Haught, 28, of the 1400 block of Salem Road, was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of domestic battery.


A woman reported at 9:21 a.m. Tuesday the theft of items from a yard in the 400 block of North 10th Street.

n An employee of the city’s Public Works department requested an officer at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, stating several employees have had items taken from their vehicles.


A subject reported at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday he saw smoke from the old Jefferson Memorial Hospital at Shawnee Avenue and Ninth Street. Firemen discovered a fire on the ground floor. A small mattress reportedly caught on fire and it was extinguished.


A man reported he heard five to six gunshots a couple of blocks southeast of the 400 block of South 21st Street at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday. Officers checked the area with no contact, police logs state.

n A woman requested an officer at 3:56 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of South 12th Street, stating her vehicle was damaged over the weekend.

n A male caller requested an officer at 9:54 p.m. Tuesday, stating he was allegedly battered at the city park 30 minutes earlier.

Michael Neff, 31, Marion, was arrested at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants charging failure to appear.


An inmate at the Jefferson County Justice Center attempted to harm himself at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The 25-year-old Mt. Vernon man was taken to Crossroads Community Hospital and then released on recognizance, per court order.
