Mt. Vernon Police Department
Police investigated a three-vehicle accident at 12:40 p.m. Monday in the 4500 block of Broadway. Authorities state Steven L. Miller, 53, of Carterville, was turning northbound onto the I-57 ramp when he struck a westbound vehicle driven by Kenneth Pulley, 28, of Mt. Vernon. Pulley’s vehicle, in the northbound lane, then struck a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Christopher M. McGuire, who was also westbound in the south lane. Miller was ticketed for failure to yield and operating an uninsured vehicle. Pulley had minor injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
A woman told police at 3:37 p.m. Monday her Link card and cell phone were taken from a residence in the 700 block of South Ninth Street.

Matthew Reed, 18, of the 17000 block of North Old Salem Lane, was arrested at 7:42 a.m. Monday on two counts of burglary.
n Tyler Bradham, 18, Woodlawn, was arrested at 11:03 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card, possession of a stolen firearm and theft by deception.
Jefferson Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the 18000 block of North Illinois Highway 37 at 12:26 p.m. Monday. The home was full of smoke, coming from the walls, police logs state.
Firefighters advised it was an exterior surface fire, and it was out at 12:46 p.m.
Warren Benson, 71, Bartlett, Tenn., was arrested at 11:57 p.m. Monday on charges of aggravated assault, resisting/obstructing an officer and unlawful parking.

Patrick Perkins, 27, Marion, was arrested at 2:09 p.m. Monday on charges of criminal trespass to vehicles and driving while license suspended.
