Ashton Harper, 19, of the 1000 block of South 23rd Street, was arrested at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of retail theft.


A woman told police at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday a lawnmower was stolen from a garage in the 1900 block of Casey Avenue.


An employee of JT Electric told police at 7:53 a.m. Tuesday a chainsaw was taken from a company truck the previous evening.

n An employee from a business in the 700 block of South 10th Street reported the theft of a cell phone at 9:18 a.m. Tuesday.

n An employee of the Hucks location in the 500 block of Fairfield Road reported a drive-off before noon Tuesday.

n A male caller told police at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday appliances were stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of Pace Avenue.

n An employee of Kmart reported at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday loss prevention personnel were pursuing a shoplifter who allegedly took a BB gun. The juvenile dropped the merchandise and fled over a fence and got into a van, police logs state. A detective located the vehicle on South 10th Street and took the subject into custody.

n Police received reports at 4:52 p.m. and 7:23 p.m. of phones being stolen on Mt. Vernon Township High School property earlier in the day.

n A woman reported at 6:04 p.m. the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 200 block of Cottonwood Drive.

n A male subject reported at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday a truck was taken from a business parking lot in the 600 block of South 42nd Street.

Joseph Laur, 21, Bonnie, was arrested at 10:49 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of theft between $500 and $10,000.

n Howard Ashleman, 20, Bonnie, was arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday on charges of theft between $500 and $10,000 and unlawful use of a blackjack/knife.

n Kyle Lewis, 28, Waltonville, was arrested at 11:04 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of theft between $500 and $10,000.
