Three Casey Middle School students talk about their projects that were selected for the State Science Fair at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign on May 2 and 3 with District 80 Talented & Gifted Coordinator Diana Rea (right). Mariah Teriet (left) and Lindsey Hurst (center) cooperated on an entry entitled, “Boys vs. Girls: The Affect of Anger on Gender.” They brought home a silver medal. Paisley Stewart (next to Rea) did her project on “The Crude Truth: The Effect that Crude Oil and Refined have on Wildlife” and won a bronze medal. She also won a $50 gift from the Agriculture Department at SIU-C during the Regional Science Fair competition in April. Just one-tenth of the regional entries advanced to State, with Casey being responsible for two of them.
