March Madness

It's been a while since I've posted a blog, even after I promised to do so frequently the last time. I'm also recently recovering from a nasty cold, which I may have passed on to my co-workers — I've apologized to them for that.

Seems like this is the perfect time of year to get a cold or the flu, with Mother Nature throwing out fickle signals of hot and cold weather. So be prepared and stay healthy and don't forget to check on your family and neighbors.

But this is March after all, when madness seems to rise in some form or another. Locally, our high school basketball teams have battled it out through regional play with some very tough competition. Woodlawn is currently vying for its first-ever sectional title and I wish them well.

Pee wee play is also going on with the Jefferson County Pee Wee Tournament scheduled just around the corner. Waltonville is also in the progress of hosting a fourth grade basketball tournament, so if you're interested, you should give Rob Askew a call.

The Jefferson County All-Star Grade School Game is this weekend and if you need just one more game to go to for the year, this one is always a fun one to watch.

I've been watching my Easter flowers push through the ground, and they bring with them a readiness to start in on my own garden. I enjoy putting out plants every year and each year I seem to add more for harvesting. I'm ready to watch the birds perch on feeders in my yard and relax back in the swing while the frogs sing something only they can understand.

We'll be turning back our clocks this weekend, which also seems to be a kick-off to Spring. I'm sure there will be more fickle weather in our forecast, but for now, I'm enjoying this warming trend.

Nothing about my boys today, but no worries, there will be plenty of stories in the future.

Have a good weekend and get out and enjoy this weather!
