Web site memorializes WHS alum Price

WOODLAWN — Kyle Price’s alma mater, Woodlawn High School, has devoted a section of its Web site to the fallen hero, and those interested may post condolences or share a memory.

“We felt it was important to have an online tribute to Kyle,” said WHS technology coordinator Kelly Owens. “He was a very important part of our school. It will be very hard to go back to school tomorrow.”

According to the Web site, Price, while a student at WHS, participated in baseball, golf, student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Library Club, Spanish Club, and served as Homecoming master of ceremonies during his senior year.

“Kyle was not just an integral part of our school, but also of our community. He was a member of Boy Scout Pack 102, Woodlawn Christian Church, Heartland Young Marines, and had earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout,” the Web site reads. “Kyle will be dearly missed by those who knew him. His attitude about life was so genuine … happy and always willing to help. His life had touched so many throughout our small town, whether it was helping with a church project, umpiring a youth baseball game, or raising money for a worthy cause, Kyle was there.

“And when the United States Marines called Kyle to serve our country, he answered that call. May we all seek comfort in knowing that Kyle loved the Lord and Kyle loved his country.”

The Web page also contains photos chronicling the soldier’s life at the high school.
