Award winning pianist to perform at Cedarhurst

Elizabeth Joy Roe secured a place on radar as a professional musician when she won the grand prize in the IBLA International Piano Competition in Italy at the age of 13. In 2004, Roe was awarded Scholastic Distinction upon graduation from Juilliard where she attended as a full scholarship student of Yoheved Kaplinsky. This exceptional musician has captured widespread acclaim throughout the world for her appearances as a recitalist, orchestral soloist and chamber musician. She has performed at Lincoln Center, Zankel Hall and Steinway Hall in New York as well as Salle Cortot in Paris and the Seoul Arts Center in Korea.

Roe will perform at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in the final event of the 2007-08 Chamber Music season. The concert, sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Don Fairchild, will be held in the new Performance Hall at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Murray State Concert Choir was the featured first event in the 4200-square-foot venue.

Dr. Bradley Almquist, director of the MSU Concert Choir, commented that “Singing in this hall is like eating ice cream every day!”

Admission to the concert is $15 for adults and $2 for students. Cedarhurst Center for the Arts is located on Richview Road, Mt. Vernon.
