New antique store in Ina has country, primitive decor

INA — When Angie Diener and her best friend Sabrina Hosselton decided to join forces to open a country and primitive decor business, they decided a building in downtown Ina would be perfect for their new business, Open Home Treasures.

“We both love country and primitive decor and shopped a lot,” said Diener. “Back in September we started renting spaces in stores [to sell items]. God opened a series of doors and led us to Ed and Carolyn.”

Ed and Carolyn Stevens are the owners of a building that used to sell general merchandise to residents in Ina and the surrounding area. Carolyn Stevens said she and her husband moved into the building about 1956, selling grocery items and other general merchandise to the public, before renting it out to other prospective business owners. The original shopping carts are still in the store.

Now Diener and Hosselton are renting the building from the Stevenses, a situation that seems to please all parties involved. “[Their business] is great,” Carolyn Stevens said. “It’s a great asset to the village.”

“It’s going to get people to be more aware of Ina and what it has to offer,” said Hosselton.

The store is sectioned into different areas, with room for about 20 different vendor booths that will be offering various items, from antiques to homemade crafts as well as new country decor and gifts. There is even a porch inside the building — built by Diener’s and Hosselton’s husbands.

The business has been open since May 1 and has had visitors from Grayslake, Effingham and even as far as California. Shellie Barr of Pinckneyville stopped in at the business last week after a friend had told her “what a cute shop” Open Home Treasures was.
