Mt. Vernon Police Department
Arrests
James W. Hanks, 22, of Richmond, Va., was arrested at 1 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment. Bond was set at $1,000 and Hanks was released.
Thefts
A resident in the 600 block of South 19th Street reported at 3:53 p.m. Friday that a lock on their garage had been cut and a lawnmower was missing.
Incidents
A report was made at 7:11 a.m. Friday that a window was broken out of a vehicle parked at Super 8.
A resident in the 600 block of Perkins Avenue reported at 11:13 a.m. Friday that someone had damaged their windshield wipers on 21st Street.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office
Arrests
Veronica S. Bodine, 37, of Brownstown, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Thursday on a charge of contempt of court. Bond was set at $1,500 and Bodine was released.
Justin A. Braden, 24, of the 300 block of West Fifth Street in Bluford, was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Friday on a charge of driving on a suspended license. Bond was set at $1,000 and Braden was released.
Thefts
The sheriff’s office received a report at 11:26 a.m. Friday that a motorcycle was stolen in the 16800 block of East Fairfield Road.
Incidents
A report was made at 9:46 p.m. Thursday that something had been thrown through a parked car in the 1400 block of North 11th Street.
The sheriff’s office received reports around 11:13 p.m. Thursday that a gun was fired near Bill’s Grocery in Bluford.
