City officials take part in Capitol-for-a-Day program

Several Mt. Vernon officials participated in the Illinois Municipal League Capitol-for-a-Day program, according to ILML Executive Director Larry Frang. Those attending the day were Mayor Mary Jane Chesley, City Manager Ron Neibert, Councilman Dennis McEnaney and Councilwoman Mary Burgan. The program was established to provide new and veteran municipal officials with the opportunity to participate in the legislative process. While in Springfield, the local officials met with Sen. John O. Jones and Rep. John Cavaletto. They attended a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Lobby Day luncheon and program for the City of Aurora and attended a meeting of the Transportation for Illinois Coalition.
