Mt. Vernon Police Department

Arrests

Bradley I. Henry, 25, of the 800 block of White Avenue, was arrested at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of contempt of court. Bond for Henry has been set at $3,000.

Jeremy A. Terry, 23, of the 1000 block of South 21st Street, was arrested at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of probation violation. Bond for Terry has been set at $10,000.

Russell A. Brown, 21, of the 2400 block of Perkins Avenue, was arrested at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday on charges of domestic battery and resisting a peace officer.

Devon D. Beasley, 19, of the 1300 block of Shawnee Street, was arrested at 4:29 a.m. Thursday on a charge of contempt of court. Bond for Beasley has been set at $5,000.

Paula E. Holmes, 37, of Herrin, was arrested at 4:52 a.m. Friday on a charge of retail theft of more than $150.

Sheecker A. Young, 23, of the 1000 block of Prarie Avenue, was arrested at 5:56 a.m. Friday on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Bond for Young has been set at $7,500.

James E. Garner, 37, of the 200 block of Opdyke Avenue, was arrested at 6:18 a.m. Friday on charges of manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug equipment, armed violence and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Thefts

A resident of the 1000 block of Wescott Street reported their son’s bicycle was stolen at 7:56 a.m. Wednesday.

A wallet was reported stolen at 11:59 a.m. Friday from Community Connections.

A subject was taken into custody at 12:29 p.m. Friday for shoplifting from Kmart at 3404 Broadway Street.

A resident of Webster Hill Estates reported at 1:39 p.m. Friday that their house had been broken into.

At 3:37 p.m. Friday, a resident of the 2300 block of Old Union Road said the back window of their car been broken out.

A bike was reported stolen from Veterans Park at 4:51 p.m. Friday.

Incidents

A resident of the 1000 block of South 25th Street said they were hit by a female in the head at 7:36 p.m. Wednesday.

A resident of the 300 block of Caborn Street reported at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday that their boyfriend had been battered.

A report was made from the 1000 block of Oakland Avenue about an alleged gunshot at 8:32 p.m. Wednesday.

A resident of the 300 block of Pine Drive reported at 8:46 p.m. Wednesday that two loose pit bulls killed their dog.

Police responded at 8:53 p.m. Wednesday to a resident of the 300 block of Wild Rose Drive who said a loose pit bull killed a poodle and had trapped their son against a house.

A resident of the 1100 block of Herbert Street reported at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday that a loose pit bull chased their son on his bike.

A resident of the 600 block of Conger Avenue said a large group of subjects entered their property and threw rocks at their son.

American Cab reported receiving a counterfeit bill at 7:04 a.m. Thursday.

A postal carrier delivering in the 1000 block of South 23rd Street reported a possible case of animal abuse.

An active verbal fight was reported in the 500 block of South 17th Street at 3:35 p.m. Thursday.

Police received a report at 7:46 p.m. Thursday that subjects were setting off fireworks in the 2000 block of Perkins Avenue.

A report was made at 8:24 p.m. Thursday that subjects were throwing objects at a residence in the 1700 block of Cherry Street.

A report was made at 10:19 p.m. Thursday that 20 to 30 juveniles were throwing fireworks at a residence in the 1900 block of Conger Avenue.

A resident in the 1100 block of Oakland Avenue reported to police at 11:17 p.m. Thursday that two subjects were running from the area and their dog had been released from its chain.

At 8:42 a.m. Friday, a resident of the 600 block of South 16th Street reported their daughter had been battered on June 20.

Police responded at 1:40 p.m. Friday to a complaint about a dog barking for an hour in a parked car at The Pasta House Co.

A resident of the 300 block of Casey Avenue reported an incident of a hit-and-run at 2:48 Friday.

Fires

A report was made at 11:09 a.m. Thursday about a transformer on fire in the 1600 block of White Street.



Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests

Derek R. Smith, 26, of the 1600 block of Pace Avenue, was arrested at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of criminal damage to property. Bond for Smith has been set at $1,000.

Mike Keith Reed, 28, of Bethalto, was arrested at 3:13 a.m. Thursday for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended/revoked license.

Michael Arron Doogan, 23, of McLeansboro, was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Thursday for driving on a suspended/revoked license.

Incidents

At 12:59 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a caller who said they were being followed by a vehicle that rammed into theirs at the intersection of Scheller Lane and Scheller Road.

A report was made at 1:27 a.m. Thursday that a truck accident happened at the railroad crossing at East Oakton Road. The driver was not injured, but was intoxicated, according to reports, and the vehicle was seized.

A resident in the 10100 block of East Deer Valley Road in Bonnie reported at 4:52 p.m. Thursday that their cat had been missing since earlier that day, and when it was found, its tail had been skinned.

At 9:25 a.m. Friday, an armed robbery was reported at Farmer’s Bank in Dubois. The sheriff’s office was advised to watch for the suspect traveling on Hwy 15.
