Council to hear quotes for city projects

By TESA CULLI

MT. VERNON — The City Council will hear financial quotes for capital equipment and projects, including the property at the corner of 12th Street and Casey Avenue.

In August, City Manager Ron Neibert received permission from the council to “shop around” for the best interest rates and leasing agreements for capital expenditures which were earmarked for this year. The financial quotes are to include the cost of equipment for the de-waterization at the sewer plant and other equipment, and the cost of the property. The property is slated to be the new home of the public works, public utilities department and fleet services. The property has a building and a fenced are that can hold equipment and vehicles.

At this time, the building is the offices of the Red Cross, which will be moving to an office suite at the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport.

When Neibert requested permission to seek the financial quotes, he indicated he would be getting information on interest rates at 4, 10 and 20 years.

In other business, the council:

Will consider a preliminary and final plat for B & G Subdivision;

Hear a request to seek bids for Christmas pole decorations;

Hold a second reading on an ordinance to set administration fees for vehicles towed by the Mt. Vernon Police Department at $100;

Hold a first reading on an ordinance to rezone property at 14102 E. Loyola Rd. owned by Harold Burwell from AG to B2;

Hold a first reading on an ordinance to rezone property at 14102 E. Loyola Road from AG to R1;

Hold a first reading on an ordinance granting conditional use for rental equipment for two tracts of property at 401 S. 10th St., by Nave Party Supplies;

Hold a first reading on an ordinance authorizing sale of surplus lots;

Consider a resolution accepting a quit claim deed for property at Outlot 2 of Water Tower Place Subdivision;

Consider a resolution to approve a revolving loan with High Range Designs, LLC; and

Discuss an amendment to a revolving loan agreement with Triple L Holdings, LLC.

The council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Rolland Lewis Community Building at Veterans Park.
