MT. VERNON — The City Council will hear financial quotes for capital equipment and projects, including the property at the corner of 12th Street and Casey Avenue.
In August, City Manager Ron Neibert received permission from the council to “shop around” for the best interest rates and leasing agreements for capital expenditures which were earmarked for this year. The financial quotes are to include the cost of equipment for the de-waterization at the sewer plant and other equipment, and the cost of the property. The property is slated to be the new home of the public works, public utilities department and fleet services. The property has a building and a fenced are that can hold equipment and vehicles.
At this time, the building is the offices of the Red Cross, which will be moving to an office suite at the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport.
When Neibert requested permission to seek the financial quotes, he indicated he would be getting information on interest rates at 4, 10 and 20 years.
