Thefts

Police received a report at 7:45 a.m. Thursday that scarecrows were stolen from a fall display in the 100 block of S.E. Crescent Drive.

Police received a report at 7:56 a.m. Thursday that Halloween decorations were stolen from a residence in the 800 block of N. Linden Drive.

Police received a report at 8:07 a.m. Thursday that yard decorations were stolen from a residence in the 4000 block of Woodglen Lane.

Police received a report at 8:47 a.m. Thursday that yard decorations were stolen from a residence in the 4000 block of Lilac Lane.

At 9:57 a.m. Thursday, police received a report that a bag containing ID and other items was stolen from a car in the 1800 block of Waltonville Rd.

Incidents

At 5:28 p.m.Wednesday, police recieved a report that someone walking down Logan Street had a rock thrown at them.

At 10:55 Wednesday, a person was cited for having an open alcohol container at Mount Vernon Veterans Park, 800 S. 27th Street.

At 9:19 a.m. Thursday, police received a report that a semi truck had backed into the Wal-Mart Super Center building at 110 Davidson Avenue and left.

At 10:02 a.m. Thursday, police received a report of a person writing bad checks.

Police received a report at 11:54 a.m. Thursday of a missing or stolen wallet at the Holiday Inn at 222 Potomac Boulevard.

Accidents

Thursday at 7:52 a.m., Mount Vernon Police responded to a two-car accident at the 1500 block of Salem Road. Tammy Launay of the 14000 block of N. Highway 37 was driving a Toyota Sierra south on Salem Road and struck a vehicle stopped in the turn lane. Launay struck the Dodge Ram truck of Johnny Wayman of the 15000 block of N. McCauley Lane. Launay was treated by EMS at the scene. Both cars were towed from the scene, and Launay was cited by Mount Vernon Police for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
