WASHINGTON COUNTY — An Ashley man, who was formerly from the Bluford area, was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and domestic battery.

James Louis Warren, 37, of 7493 Louisiana Road, was charged June 26 in Washington County Court for the June 25 beating death of Daniel Kellerman of Nashville.

According to a Washington County Court spokesperson the charged alleged that Warren “used his hands to strike Kellerman repeatedly, causing his death.”

Kellerman, 40, was found dead in Warren’s yard, and Warren was arrested at the scene.

In conjunction with the involuntary manslaughtercharge, Warren was also charged with domestic battery, for punching family member Eldeana Fincher in the side of the head, pulling her hair and throwing her to the ground, according to the charges.

The same day he was charged, he pleaded innocent, but pleaded guilty on Sept. 18, according to court records.

He was represented in court by Public Defender Brian Trentman.

Warren was sentenced to 10 years in prison on both charges, but the 10-year sentences will run concurrently, according to court records.

He was also fined $10,909.

Warren had been in the Washington County Jail under a $250,000 bond since his arrest.

Warren had been arrested several times in Jefferson County, according to court records.

In January of 2006, he was sentenced to 18 months of probation after being found guilty of theft over $300.

In January of this year he was sentenced to 18 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license.
