Howard Community Chapel
Sunday mornings are lively and exciting at Howard Community Chapel.
The all-Bible Sunday school begins promptly at 10 a.m. There is a class for every age. Teachers include Curt Anselment for senior adults, Linda Myers for Pairs and Spares, Carolyn Lane for middlers, and Billy and Rebekah Bell for beginners. Sam Lane is superintendent.
At 10:45 a.m., everyone is back in the auditorium. The boys and girls will be singing, playing music in the booster band, hearing an object lesson given by Linda Myers and collecting the penny march.
Everyone who has had a birthday or anniversary in the last week will be acknowledged.
Around 11 a.m., morning worship begins. The service will feature congregational and special singing, along with prayer.
Pastor Myers will be preaching part 2 of a message entitled, “Return to the old paths,” with text from Jeremiah 6:16, King James version.
The service will close with an invitation given and a time of prayer around the altar.
The 6 p.m. service is open to all who will come, visit and worship with us. There is congregational and special singing, special prayer as well as prayer for the sick and a message by Pastor Myers.
The service will end with a time of prayer around the altar.
Musicians include Linda Myers, Paul Thomason, Rachel Thomason, Sam Lane, Mikie McClanahan, Carroll Thomas, Rebekah Bell and Pastor Myers.

First Baptist Church of Bluford
First Baptist’s Prayer Warriors have been praying for the lost to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Upon reviewing the record for the pervious church year, we are thankful to report there have been 26 additions to the church roll within the past 12 months. Twenty-two have accepted Jesus as savior, were baptized and upon their request became members of the church. Three members have come through transfer of church letter.
To kick off the 2013-14 school year, First Baptist will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday at South Sandusky Pavillion, Rend Lake, for a time of swimming, food, fun and fellowship.
Sunday school classes are available for all age levels at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. This week, adults study will be taken from Mark 15:33-39; 16:1-7 and I Corinthians 15:17-19.
Pastor Scott Lambrich will bring the messagte at the 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. worship services. A nursery attended by Sharon White will be available. This week’s greeters are Ricahrd and Barbara Ruckman.
The church council will meet 6 p.m. Sunday.
First Baptist will have a fellowship meal at 6 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the monthly business meeting at 7 p.m. Adult Bible study is canceled this week. Girls in Action and Mission Friends will meet at 7 p.m.
The church endorses the”Christmas inAugust” project promoted by the Girls in Action. During the month of August, a collection of items will be brought that will be used to help missionaries replenish ministry supplies, purchase items for ministry centers and minister to people in their communities who need to hear about Jesus. Bluford’s GA group has chosen to support Trish Alligood, Anchor House, Inc., Palmetto, Fla.
Boyd Christian Church

The VBS Sunday program will be held at 10 a.m. Then, the entire community is invited to join us for a backyard block party following worship services on Aug. 11. The party will start off with a potluck meal. Everyone is asked to bring plenty of food to share. Following the meal, we will be doing a community service project.
After the service project, we are going to have a carnival. There will be tons of games, prizes, food and fun. Prizes drawn at the party will be for who brought the most friends during VBS, what team brought in the most pennies for the church playground fundraiser and more. Kids must be present to win.

First United Methodist Church
This Sunday is a very important one to 12 youth in our congregation. There will be only one worship service this Sunday at 10 a.m., during which these youth will be confirmed.
Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming their baptismal vows before the congregation. Most confirmands are youth between the ages of 11 and 14, who have been nurtured in the church since their baptism as an infant or young child. During confirmation class, confirmands learn about the meaning of Christian faith; the history and teachings and the United Methodist Church; and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing.
The Rev. Victor Long’s message at this service will be, “Called, Chosen and Sent.” His scripture texts will be Luke 6:12-16.
Sunday worship service for confirmation will be held at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. At noon, a lunch for confirmands and family will be held; at 5 p.m. Sunday, the Uppity Women of the Bible will meet at the home of Stan and Kathy Newman.
Monday, the Highway to Heaven prayer group will meet in the Zadok Casey Room at 10 a.m.; the Emmaus Reunion group will meet at noon; and the Praise Band will hold practice in the sanctuary at 6 p.m.

Panther Fork Baptist Church

First Baptist Church of Bonnie will be celebrating homecoming on Sunday.

Marlow General Baptist Church
Marlow General Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming services on Sunday, Aug. 11. Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m. and morning worship at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Roger Tate bringing the message. A potluck will be served at noon with meat, bread and drinks furnished.
