Mt. Vernon.Net sells operations to Wisper ISP

MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon.Net has announced the sale of its operations to Wisper ISP, Inc., of Belleville.

"Customers should not notice any changes other than Wisper offering higher speeds for all MVNB.net customers at no additional cost," said MVN.net Co-founder and President John Scrivner. "I have been very blessed with my role as president of Mt. Vernon-Net over these last 16 years. I cannot thank everyone enough for all your support all these years. MVN.net is on solid ground going forward with Nathan Stooke and Wisper ISP at the helm."

In a release describing the sale of the MVN.net operations, Wisper ISP, Inc. is described as "a local wireless Internet service provider that brings unlimited high speed Internet to customers in both rural and metropolitan communities. ... The hometown feel and support that MVN customers are used to is not going away but will now be a part of Wisper which is a larger regional company operating in Southern Illinois and Eastern Missouri."

"This is a huge opportunity for Wisper," CEO Nathan Stooke stated. "We love to provide people with high speed Internet. John and the employees at MVN have built a great company and network. We look forward to using the network as a spring board to expand coverage and provide super fast speeds in the Mt. Vernon areas."

Information states Wisper has already made improvements to the MVN network by increasing the network from 100 megabits to a full gigabit.

"This 10 times increase in available speed will allow customers ... to see marked improvements in their service during prime time when speeds are usually at a maximum," information states.
