---- — CENTRALIA – Mt. Vernon's boys track team placed second to Cahokia at the South Seven meet Friday.
The Rams finished with 145 points. Cahokia had 191 points.“We don't like finishing second,” Mt. Vernon coach Clint Turner said. “Cahokia's a great team. They are really good. They're an overwhelming favorite for the state championship again.”Other team scores were: Carbondale 81, Marion 69, Centralia 62, Belleville Althoff 0.The Rams ended the meet with four event winners.“I think we ran just about as well as we could possibly run,” Turner said. “We got more points out of the field events than I thought we would.”David Modert won a pair of events for the Rams. He finished the 3,200 meter run in a time of 10:03.36. He won the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:35.44.Other winners for the Rams were: Joseph McDaniel in the pole vault (12 feet) and Karson Hahn in the 800 meters (1:56.29).Second-place finishers were: the 3,200 meter relay team of Jake Wilson, Ethan Badger, Xavies Moony and Hahn (8:19.9); Drew Hester in the 110 high hurdles ( 15.43 seconds); the 800 meter relay team of Robert Grider, Dylan Reeves, Crayton Turner and Drew Hester (1:35.60) and the 1,600 meter relay team of Miller, Jake Wilson, Turner and Hahn (3:34.26).See www.register-news.com for a complete recap of all the Mt.
