Frozen pipes burst at Woodlawn schools

Classes should be able to resume Monday

MT. VERNON — — Woodlawn High School and Grade School were closed again Thursday due, in part, to several frozen pipes bursting and causing water to leak into some of the rooms.

School officials had originally planned to hold a teachers' workshop on Monday and for classes to resume on Tuesday. The heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures, however, led officials to cancel school on Monday and Tuesday.

On Tuesday, custodial staff discovered that some pipes had burst at the schools.

Superintendent David Larkin said Friday the problem with the pipes has been fixed. The teachers' workshop is being held Friday and classes should resume Monday.
