Ten people sentenced to prison

Marshall Garrison, 28, Dix, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of meth, a Class 3 felony. He was sentenced to four years in prison, followed by one year of mandatory supervised release. On July 3, Garrison was found to be in possession of a baggie containing meth during contact with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. His sentence will run concurrent to a prison sentence out of Marion County.

Jerry Gill, 39, Mt. Vernon, pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI, a Class 4 felony. He was sentenced to two years in prison, followed by one year of mandatory supervised release. On June 2, Gill was found to be driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Gill’s driver’s license was previously revoked, making this offense a felony.

Lee Jones, 46, Herrin, pleaded guilty to retail theft, a Class 3 felony and was sentenced to two years in prison, followed by one year of parole. On Sept. 24, Jones stole a television from Mt. Vernon Wal-mart and was apprehended in the store parking lot.

Jose A. Roman, 35, Mt. Vernon, pleaded guilty to retail theft, a Class 4 felony. He was sentenced to two years of prison, followed by one year of mandatory supervised release. On April 16, Roman stole batteries from Mt. Vernon Kroger. He has a prior conviction for theft. His sentence will run concurrent with a sentence on a similar charge in Franklin County.

Ellen R. Boyce, 25, Centralia, pleaded guilty to retail theft, a Class 4 felony. She was sentenced to 1 ½ years to DOC, followed by one year of parole. On Dec. 28, Boyce stole underwear from the Mt. Vernon Kmart and was later arrested by Mt. Vernon police. She has a prior conviction for theft.
