INA — The Rend Lake College Culinary Arts program is bringing back it’s successful Warrior Showcase.
This is the second year for the event, and will be held Thursdays and Fridays from March 20 to May 10 in the Student Center.
Warrior Showcase is a student-run restaurant experience with a full menu consisting of appetizers, soups and salads, entrees, sides and desserts. Freshmen and sophomore students in the Restaurant Operations course design the menu, cook, serve and clean, covering all aspects of the restaurant business.
“Culinary Arts offered the Warrior Showcase to community members last year, and it went well toward the end,” said Robert Wilson, RLC Culinary Arts lead instructor. “This year, we hope to have more interaction with the community to benefit our students. This is the complete experience in operating a restaurant, and something our students can take away into the workplace.”
Wilson said the menu this year will have an international theme. Students are now working out the final details of the menu and conducting recipe trials. Specific menu items will be available soon.
Reservation times for the Warrior Showcase are 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The event will be closed for Good Friday.
Reservations may be made by calling 437-5321, ext. 1714. The cost of each meal is $20 per person.
