MT. VERNON — Members of the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County /Sheriff’s Department conducted a drug sweep on Wednesday, resulting in 12 arrests.
A total of 29 individuals were being sought on drug related charges with warrants issued by the Jefferson County state’s attorney’s office.
Those arrested and charged, as of noon Wednesday, include:
n John Stonecipher, 55, Waltonville, possession of cannabis and drug equipment.
n Derek Nardone, 42, of the 1100 block of South 23rd Street, unlawful delivery of a lookalike substance.
n Curtis Gibson, 38, of the 500 block of South 18th Street, unlawful delivery of cannabis.
n Cotrell Richardson, 53, of the 600 block of South 18th Street, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
n Nicole Gonis, 24, of the 500 block of North Seventh Street, possession of a controlled substance.
n Gene Baltzell, 53, of the 100 block of Opdyke, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
n Kavell McClain, 21, of the 300 block of South 15th Street, unlawful delivery of cannabis.
n George Fly, 57, of the 200 block of South 15th Street, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
n Valarie Beals, 27, of the 15000 block of East Fairfield Road, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
This makes a total of six drug related warrant sweeps conducted by the joint narcotics division during 2013. Approximately 140 people have been charged with drug related crimes in the Mt. Vernon/Jefferson County area during this time.
