INA — — With assistance from several area departments, Ina Police raided a home in the 200 block of Maple Street in Ina late Friday night and took a subject into custody.
According to Ina Chief of Police Travis Allen, police found large quantities of methamphetamine and methamphetamine making materials. Jonathan Cooper was arrested for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver. Illinois State Police advised this was one of the larger meth labs they have seen in a while, Allen stated in a news release.
One Ina police officer had to be taken to Good Samaritan Regional Health Center for exposure to chemicals. Allen said, "We took every precaution that we could because of the dangerous materials. The actual exposure happened while officer Anthony Amato was transporting Cooper to the Jefferson County Justice Center. It sickens me that an officer was injured during this operation."
Assisting in the raid and subsequent arrest were Illinois State Police, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and Ewing Police.
