Ina woman gets 10-year sentence

MT. VERNON — A Jefferson County woman has agreed to a plea agreement that will result in a 10-year prison sentence.

Raquel Ashby, 39, of Ina, agreed to the negotiated guilty plea on Tuesday in Jefferson Circuit Court, according to State’s Attorney Doug Hoffman.

Ashby was implicated in a robbery of The Cash Store in the 330 block of Broadway on the afternoon of June 15, 2012. According to reports, the suspect did not display a weapon although she implied she had one. The suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money. Court records indicate Ashby took $7,193 from the business. She was also ordered to make restitution to The Cash Store in Mt. Vernon.

Ashby also received a 10-year prison sentence in Franklin County — to be served concurrently with the Jefferson County plea agreement — where she had been accused of holding up The Cash Store in West City and the Bank of America in Benton.

Ashby has been incarcerated at the Franklin County Detention Center since her arrest. She received credit for 149 days served in jail.
