Clyde Buntings, foreman of the bottoming department of the International Shoe Co.’s Mt. Vernon plant, has retired after 44 years of service.

The public’s appreciation dinner in behalf of the Florsheim Shoe Co. will be held later this month at the Ramada Inn.

A prospective father, rushing his pregnant wife to the hospital, caused a seven-car collision Wednesday. Christopher Eugene Givson was born 28 minutes after the accident.

Nearly 75 percent of the telephones in Mt. Vernon were out of service for about 90 minutes Tuesday afternoon.

State’s Attorney Kathleen Alling said no criminal charges will be filed in the shooting death of Timmy L. Mosier until she has had a chance to review all available evidence.
