Crossroads hospital introduces new Robotic Surgical System

Rotary West members tried out the system Monday morning

MT. VERNON — Crossroads Community Hospital held a special demonstration Monday morning of its newly acquired four-arm Robotic Surgical System for members of the Mt. Vernon Rotary West group.

At the gathering, Rotary West members had the chance to try the new system themselves, using the robotic arms to move jacks, handle money and more.

The robotic system is now available for the hospital's Women's Health Program and is an ideal tool for performing hysterectomies and other procedures.

On Monday and Tuesday, hospital officials are introducing the system to several groups, including Rotary West, the Jefferson County Chanber of Commerce, the media and others. The general public will also get a chance to try the system at the Healthy Woman event set for 6 p.m. Monday in the hospital's conference center.
