Local children are invited to join the “Rugrats” in Paris for the continuing Classic Kids Matinee series.
The free movie screening will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Granada Center for the Performing arts. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and child-appropriate concessions will be offered.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The matinee series has been offering local children the chance to have a free screening of children’s movies since Jan. 2009.
The matinee series runs from October through May, and is free through the patronage of local banks and other businesses, said David Lister, Granada Center for the Performing Arts board member.
At this screening, GenFed Financial will provide a $50 Johnny Appleseed account to a child before the movie begins, Lister said.
“Rugrats in Paris: The Movie,” a 2000 animated film, centers around character Chuckie’s attempts to find a new mother and prevent his father from marrying an evil business woman, information from the Internet Movie Database states. The entire Rugrats gang is in Paris while one of their parents works on a Reptar-themed adventure park, information states.
The film features the voice talents of Elizabeth Daily, Tara Strong, Cheryl Chase and Christine Cavanaugh.
The remaining films in the series are “Rugrats in Paris” Feb. 9, “Open Season 3” March 9, “Madagascar, Escape 2 Africa” April 13 and “A Cinderella Story” May 11.
