Toy Box Tag Sale to be held

MT. VERNON — It’s a little early for spring cleaning, but it’s never to early to get rid of all the unwanted toys in the kids toy box — especially with Christmas right around the corner.

The annual Toy Box Tag Sale at Veterans Memorial Park held each year for people who want to sell gently used toys and other items their children may not have use for any more, but could still be used by others.

Wes Plummer, recreation coordinator for Mt. Vernon City Parks, said clothes cannot be sold, but toys, collectibles such as Beanie Babies, baby items, video games and other items can be sold at the Toy Box Tag Sale. The sale used to be held after Christmas, but has since been moved to before Christmas.

“We had a lot of requests to do it before Christmas, that way people could clear out some space and maybe find some gifts for Christmas,” Plummer said. “It’s just a chance to get rid of some things you have outgrown.”

Plummer said to make sure all the part are included for the items being sold and to bring some batteries to make sure the items work. He said there are plenty of outlets available for items which may need to be plugged in.

Tables can be rented for $5 each and Plummer said there are still a few spots left, although the sale usually fills up all available spots. So far about 20 people have reserved a table for the sale.

The Toy Box Tag Sale will be held on Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. inside the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building. For more information or to reserve a table, call 242-6890.
