Building tops $2 million

---- — MT. VERNON — Commercial building during February topped $2 million, given a boost from a $1.13 million new building project at Times Square Mall.

The project is being completed by Mt. Vernon Associates, LLC, at 3909 Broadway. In addition, Times Square Mall renovations and signs brought in another $90,000 for renovations at Subway and signage of $99,700.

Commercial building permits issued by the city in February were:

n Subway, 3917 Broadway, renovation at an estimated project cost of $90,000;

n Vanex/PPG, 1700 Shawnee St., to construct a metal building for the process system at an estimated project cost of $338, 229;

n Wal-Mart, 110 Davidson, to remodel the retail space at an estimated project cost of $425,000; and

n Mt. Vernon Associates, LLC, 3909 Broadway, to construct the shell only for retail space at an estimated project cost of $1.13 million.

Signage permits for retail issued in February were:

n Hobby Lobby, 4107 Broadway, a temporary construction sign at a cost of $200;

n Hobby Lobby, 4107 Broadway, wall mounted signs at a cost of $15,000;

n Times Square Mall, 3917 Broadway, a sign at a cost of $69,600;

n Times Square Mall, 3917 Broadway, a sign at a cost of $8,900;

n Times Square Mall, 3917 Broadway, a sign at an estimated cost of $6,000; and

n State Farm Insurance, 1810 Broadway for a sign at no estimated cost.

A residential building permit was issued for Doris Meredith, 701 S. 17th St., for a modular home with a block foundation at an estimated cost of $129,200.

A demolition permit was issued to Steven Zelman, 2809 Caroline.
