MT. VERNON — Ron Daniels was the clear winner Tuesday in the Republican race for regional superintendent of the Regional Office of Education 13, according to unofficial primary election results.
Once the consolidation occurs in July 2015, ROE 13 will include Jefferson, Marion, Clinton and Washington counties, as well as a small portion of Fayette County.
Election results from all these counties indicate Daniels received a total of 7,177 votes. His opponent in the Republican primary, Jacob Purcell, earned a total of 3,534 votes.
“I’m looking forward to getting a chance to meet and introduce myself to those folks in the counties I’m serving,” Daniels said. “I’m grateful for the support and the votes that I received in the primary.”
The Democratic candidate for the ROE 13 position, Keri Garrett, ran unopposed in Tuesday’s primary. She garnered a total of 3,989 votes.
In Jefferson County, Daniels received 3,182 votes, Purcell received 935 votes and Garrett received 1,937 votes.
Marion County results showed that Daniels received 1,186 votes, Purcell received 1,029 votes and Garrett received 1,016 votes.
Furthermore, in Washington County, Daniels earned 1,321 votes, Purcell had 667 votes and Garrett had 467 votes.
In Clinton County, Daniels received 1,342 votes, Purcell earned 805 votes and Garrett had 524 votes.
In the four precincts in Fayette County covered by ROE 13, Daniels received 146 votes, Purcell had 98 votes and Garrett had 45 votes.
