---- — MT. VERNON — The Fourth Annual Job Search Party will be held April 1.

According to information from the Rend Lake College Small Business Development Center, one of the co-sponsors of the event, the job fair is designed to provide employers the opportunity to discuss job and career opportunities with students, graduates and the general public.

The event is scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.

“The Job Fair is an excellent opportunity for people living in our communities,” said Paula Myers, employment specialist of Rend Lake College. Myers said the event partners with several entities, allowing more vendors to create more job prospects.

“It’s a great way to have many different local employers gathered in one place to see what’s available,” Myers stated.

According to information about the event, about 300 job-seekers attended the Job Fair last year.

Those who plan on attending should wear professional dress, bring several resume and be prepared for an impromptu interview.

This year, about 40 vendors from Southern Illinois will be available to speak to prospective employees about job opportunities and hiring. Previous employers which participated included Walgreens Distribution Center, Continental Tire the Americas and Prairie State Generating Company. Some additional vendors this year represent the city of Mt. Vernon, temporary agencies, retail and customer service business and sales opportunities
