MT. VERNON — Building in the city was way down for March, coming in with $4,000 in residential permitting and $401,462 in commercial building.
The sole residential permit was made to Debbie Willis, 810 North St., for a room addition and deck.
The largest commercial building permit issued during the month was to Greenwalt and Son Company for the site and structure of an unspecified business building at 3600 S. Watertower Place, at an estimated cost of $250,000.
Other commercial building and signs permitted were:
Corinthian Baptist Church, 1026 Newby, for a parking lot with an estimated project cost of $34,982;
Martin and Bayley, Inc., 101 S. 45th St., to repair the front entrance due to fire damage at an estimated project cost of $95,000;
The Medicine Shoppe, 2339 Broadway, to erect a sign at an estimated cost of $9,980; and
Downtown Mt. Vernon Development Corporation, to place temporary signs at 1107 Jordan St., 331 S. 10th St., 504 Salem Rd., 800 Main St., 200 Potomac Blvd. and the corner of 14th and Main Streets.
Demolition permits issued for March are:
DDC Hotels Inc., 120 N. 44th St., to demolish a hotel;
W.C. Alexander Wholesale, 210 N. 12thSt., to demolish a building; and
Don Gulley/Jaqueline Crunk, 211 Opdyke Ave., to demolish a house.
