---- — Marvin G. Thacker, 73, of Mt. Vernon, died 10:12 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at his home in Mt. Vernon.

He was born Monday, Nov. 20, 1939, in Ridgeway, the son of Thomas and Erva Leona (Belt) Thacker.

Marvin worked for Illinois Bell as a computer technician. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge 755, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2791, the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge 819, the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers 702, the Masons and the Shriner Club.

He is survived by three daughters, Virginia Thacker of St. Louis, Leona Thacker and husband Curtis Thomas of Mt. Vernon and Janet Johnston of Mt. Vernon; son, Marvin W. Thacker of South Korea; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Reynolds of Kankakee, Carolyne Showman of Canby, Ore. and Neva Jane Ensminger of Mt. Carmel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cynthia “Candy” Thacker; and two brothers, Gerald and Clinton Thacker.

Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Burial will take place at a later date at Thacker Cemetery in Gallatin County.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Mooseheart Child City and School and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
