Reward offered in armed robbery

MT. VERNON — Jefferson County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the armed robbery at the Dollar General Store on South 10th Street earlier this week.

The robbery occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Monday. The suspect got away from the business with an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect is described as a white male, medium build, in his early 40s and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket and light colored blue jeans. The subject was armed with a handgun.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Mt. Vernon Police Department at 242-2131 or Jefferson County Crime Stoppers at 242-8477.

If you share information with Crime Stoppers, you do not have to leave your name or telephone number and you can remain anonymous.

Any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect may make the caller eligible for a cash award.
