MT. VERNON — —
Although the city council meets in regular session tonight, it’s a lean agenda leading into Tuesday’s election.
Four action items are included on the agenda — bid results for fleet services overhead garage door, bid results for a public utilities trailer, a request to close Prairie Street on Nov. 10 for a car show and a request to seek bids for cleaning services.
The council approved a request to seek bids for both the garage door and the trailer last month. The garage door is to enclose one of the garages at fleet services, located at the corner of 12th Street and Casey Avenue. The item was in the budget for this fiscal year.
The trailer will replace one which is too small and has worn out, according to information released at an earlier council meeting. The trailer will be used to haul equipment from work sites from the public works facility, which is also located at 12th Street and Casey Avenue.
Tonight the council will be asked to close a portion of Prairie Street from South 10th Street to the Big Lots store. According to the agenda, the Eagles will be hosting a car show from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 10.
The Eagles Lodge is located on Prairie Street near Big Lots. As a local organization, the Fraternal Order of Eagles uphold the values of home, family and community, according to information from the fraternity.
In addition to the action items, the council will be perusing the minutes from the Sept. 10 council workshop and the Sept. 25 council workshop and expected to approve consolidated vouchers for accounts payable.
There is also time allotted for mayor’s comments, city council comments and public input.
The council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building at Veterans Park.
