---- — MT. VERNON — As registered voters are in the midst of in-person absentee voting, several area school board positions are on the ballot.
In-person absentee voting takes place now through April 6, with the exception of March 29, from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
Early voting will be March 25 through March 28 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; April 1 and April 2 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; April 3 through April 5 from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.; and on Saturday, April 6, from 8 a.m. to noon.
School board candidates in Jefferson County are:
Field Community Consolidated School District — Four positions open with Jonathan D. Ashby, Robert A. Emery, Chester Connaway and Jonathan Schnautz running for the positions.
McClellan School District — Four positions open with three candidates, Valerie Duff, Tyson Conner and Gregory Kueker.
Woodlawn Community Consolidated High School — Four positions open with four candidates, Thomas Mears, Steve Danner, Stacy Kehrer and Karen Wehrheim.
Woodlawn Community Consolidated School District — The school board cannot consist of more than two from Casner Township, not more than two from Shiloh Township, not more than three from Blissville Township and not more than three from McClellan Township. There is one two year term up for election, with Daryn S. Edwards of Blissville Township running; four full term seats available with candidates Leslie J. Knox of Casner Township; Kendra Rynski of Casner Township; Rebecca "Becky" Crider of Casner Township, James Bailey of Casner Township, Christopher E. Bunting of Shiloh Township, Waunema Reagan of Shiloh Township and Brett "Jeff" Burkett of McClellan Township on the ballot.
Webber Township High School —There are four seats available, with one candidate, Paul Manning.
Summersville District 79 — Four positions are available with five candidates, Randolph L. Steele, Emily Martin, Brittany Boldt, Sonia Hyde and Shawn Smith.
Dodds Community Consolidated School District — There are four positions up for election and four candidates, Terrie Williams, Joel Ham, Rodney Martin and Ryan Maurer.
Farrington Community Consolidated School District — There are no candidates running for one two-year term; only two candidates are running for four full term seats, Wayne Stone and Julie Bullard. Three write-in candidates have filed, according to the County Clerk and Recorder office.
Bethel Grade School — No candidate has filed fro a two-year term position and one candidate has filed for four full-term positions, Justin Timmons. There are two write-in candidates who have filed.
Mt. Vernon Township High School — Three candidates have filed for four seats up for election, Cynthia D. Davis, Kimberly A. Alvis and Carl D. Miller.
Grand Prairie Community Consolidated School District — Two people have filed for three two-year term positions, Teri Russo and Sonya McKinney. Four have filed for four full term positions, Lonnie "Butch" Altom, Brad Hails, Debra Meredith and Erin Wenzel.
Opdyke-Belle Rive Community Consolidated School District — Four people are running for four positions, Lisa Irvin, Jeremy Hamson, Shawn Poole and Henry "Buster" Leeck.
Waltonville Community Unit District 1 — The board may consist of no more than two from Elk Prairie, no more than two from Bald Hill, no more than two from Blissville and no more than three from McClellan townships. Four full term positions are up for election with candidates being Sandy Frick of Elk Prairie Township, Rachel (Lynch) Speiser of Elk Prairie Township, David John Walker of Blissville Township, Larry (Webb) Eastham of Blissville Township, Chris Anderson of Bald Hill Township, Kirby Laur of Bald Hill Township and Eric K. Breeze of McClellan Township.
Mt. Vernon District 80 — four positions are up for election with four candidates, Matt Reynolds, Cleo Holt, Brishanta (Bree) Lee and Jaymie Nunnery.
Rome Community Consolidated School District — There are limitations of how many candidates may be from each part of the township in the school district, with no more than three from 2S-3E, no more than two from 2S-2E and no more than one from 1S-2E. Candidates for four positions are Amanda McKee of 2S-2E, Greg Martinez from 2S-2E, Terry D. Prosise from 1S-2E, Steven J. Down from 2S-3E and Nathan Pigg from 2S-3E.
Ina Community Consolidated School District — Four candidates are running for four positions, Gwen Allen, Marla Payne, Holly Payne and Eric Wolf.
Bluford Community Consolidated School District — Three candidates have filed for four positions, Amanda Gilbert, Carol Rudofski and Don Sneed.
