Possible tornado touchdown in Jefferson County

A possible tornado Sunday afternoon caused damage to a home on East Bakerville Road.

Three large trees were knocked down, a portion of a roof on a house was blown off, there was slight damage to the back of a neighboring house and part of a carport behind a house was lifted across the street and into a field.

County EMA director Steve Lueker said the storm system that moved through the area about 12:45 p.m. spawned a possible tornado or high straight line winds. Lueker said the National Weather Service will determin for sure if straight line winds or a tornado caused damage.
