MT. VERNON — — Mt. Vernon Fitness is hosting a special bone marrow screening event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 21 and 22.
The event is being held to help find a donor match for 7-year-old Zach Brinkman of Nashville, who has Fanconi anemia and needs a transplant this June. Even so, the screening also has the potential to benefit others awaiting transplants as well.
Anyone who attends the event and agrees to be a donor will be added to the national bone marrow registry list. Mt. Vernon Fitness is located at 1318 Salem Road.
The screening is being conducted by Be The Match, which manages the registry. Learn more Thursday on this site or in the print edition of the Register-News.
