MCLEANSBORO — The driver of the crash near McLeansboro that killed five people recently has been charged in Hamilton Circuit Court.
According to reports, Darrell Delong, 49, of Collinsville, was arrested on Thursday on one count of reckless homicide and five counts of aggravated driving under the influence.
Authorities said Delong was driving an SUV on Anderson School Road — west of McLeansboro — when he lost control. The vehicle went airborne and rolled several times.
Killed in the crash were five passengers — Diana Wright of McLeansboro, Robert L. and Lori S. Parker, Tammy A. Delong and a 16-year-old juvenile from Collinsville.
Delong is being held in the White County Jail in Carmi under $500,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Dec. 19.
