Bright Start celebrates Week of the Young Child

The Register-News

---- — Every day this week, Bright Start Child and Family Center is having free events to recognize children and early learning oppotunities.

Families with young children are invited to come to the after hours carnival on April 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. There will be free games, food and prizes. Also, everyone can check out the Scholastic Book Fair in the Bright Start lobby all week from Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19.

“The classrooms are planning daily activities and themed dress up days,” said Gretchen Biggerstaff, Bright Start director. “We hope that the community will join us for these exciting and educational activities.”

Along with health and wellness opportunities, a Christian clown will be visiting classrooms, and Clifford the Big Red Dog is having story time with the children.

On Thursday, classrooms and students will be creating Flat Stanleys ready for adventure.

On Friday, Bright Start parents are encouraged to join their children for a family art day.

Bright Start teachers will be getting in on the fun, dress up days. The themes for the week are: Crazy sock/shoe day, inside-out/backwards day, favorite book character day, crazy hair day and crazy hat day.

Bright Start Child and Family Education Center is one of the many services provided by United Methodist Children’s Home. Bright Start is located at 104 S. 32nd St., just north of Broadway in Mt. Vernon.
