Panther Fork Baptist ChurchThe pastor of Panther Fork Baptist Church is John Ashby. The Sunday school director is Max Wilson. Baker Street Baptist ChurchBible study is at 9:30 a.m., worship at 10:30 a.m. and evening worship and study is at 6 p.m. at Baker Street Baptist Church in Walnut Hill.This Sunday morning, pastor Don Bigham will speak on "The Death of Jesus."Adult Bible study is at 9:30 a.m. The lesson title is "Care for Others."Our youth in Bible study time will be digging deeper with Life Focus.In the children's department, teacher/leader Donna is teaching the children lessons from Genesis about "In the Beginning." Boyd Christian ChurchPlease join us at Boyd Christian Church this Sunday at 10 a.m. for worship service. Our minister, Jason Poznich, will be bringing the message from his Kingdom series.We will be having our monthly senior luncheon on Thursday, March 28, at noon. Woodlawn Christian ChurchOur Sunday morning worship time focuses on B90X — we are doing the entire Bible in 90 days! On March 24, Tracy Thomas will dive into the theme, "The End of the Story." We have Bible study at 9 a.m. for all ages, including four different adult electives, and worship at 10 a.m.B90X is here! Our goals as a church are 1,000 books of the Bible read; 1,000 pounds lost; 1,000 hours of service to others outside of WCC; and 1,000 points of gratitude. First Baptist Church of BlufordFirst Baptist Church of Bluford will host a three day mini Vacation Bible School March 25 through March 27 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. The theme for the school is "Truth Trackers Discover the Secret of the Stone Tablets" and will be built around an action adventure journey through deserts of Egypt and the Middle East. Children ages 4 through sixth grade will be able to enjoy Bible stories, a search for the secret of the Stone Tablets, a kiosk of crafts, music and theme-related refreshments and recreation.First Baptist Prayer Warriors meet at 9 a.m. each Sunday in preparation for the week's services/activities. Sunday school for all age levels begin at 9:30 a.m. The background for this week's adult Bible study is taken from Luke 22:1-30 and asks the question, "How can I be a better servant?"Pastor Scott Lambrich will bring the message at the church's 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. worship services. A nursery attended by Karen Settle is available. Greeters are Rick and Stacy Roberson.The church will host an Easter covered dish meal immediately following the morning worship service this Sunday.First Baptist youth will attend the 2013 Teen Training Conference "Dare to Share" in St. Louis Friday and Saturday.Rehearsal for the Easter drama will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday. Also on Wednesday, Praise Band practice is at 6:30 p.m. Girls in Action, Mission Friends, youth class and adult Bible study is offered at 7 p.m. The adult study is from the Book of Exodus.The church will take the traditional Easter Walk through designated streets in Bluford on Saturday at 1 p.m. High Attendance Day in Sunday school is set for Easter Sunday, March 31.

Howard Community ChapelSunday mornings are lively and exciting at Howard Community Chapel. Howard Chapel to celebrate Palm Sunday.The all-Bible Sunday school begins promptly at 10 a.m. on March 24. There is a class for every age. Teachers include Helen Wheeler, Linda Myers, Carolyn Lane, Lou Horn and Trava Campbell.At 10:45 a.m., everyone is back in the auditorium. The boys and girls will be singing, playing music in the booster band, hearing an object lesson given by Linda Myers and collecting the penny march. Everyone who has had a birthday or anniversary in the last week will be acknowledged.Around 11 a.m., morning worship begins. The service will feature congregational and special singing, prayer as well as prayer for the sick and requests, led by Larry Rainwater.We will be celebrating Palm Sunday. The church will be decorated with palm leaves. Pastor Myers will be preaching a message entitled, "The Death of the Cross." Scripture text will be from Philippians 2:5-8.The service will close with an invitation given and a time of prayer around the altar.The 6 p.m. service is open to all who will come, visit and worship with us. There is congregational and special singing, special prayer as well as prayer for the sick, and a message by Pastor Myers.The service will end with a time of prayer around the altar.Musicians include Linda Myers, Paul Thomason, Rachel Thomason, Sam Lane, Mikie McClanahan, Carroll Thomas, Rebekah Bell and Pastor Myers.Bible study will be held in the fellowship hall at 10 a.m. on April 16 with studies in the book of Acts. The study is directed by Linda Myers.Wednesday, March 27, the midweek service will be at 7 p.m.Friday, March 29, there will be a fellowship meeting with the Rev. Donald Pankey from Doniphan,. West Salem Trinity United Methodist ChurchThe confirmation class at West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church, located on the corner of 42nd Street and Broadway in Mt. Vernon, will be baptized and confirmed into the church during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. During the service, the members of the confirmation class will be participating in the worship service.Deb Bryant will be the worship host and Anastasia Hayes will be leading the congregation in the call to worship. Izy Graham and Damien Ehrman will be the acolytes. Sierra Benedict will be sharing in the opening prayer and Gunner Silliman will be leading the reading of the scriptures from Luke 3:21-22 for the time together.The West Salem Trinity Praise Team will be leading the time of worship with the choir sharing the offertory special music.The door greeters will be Rick and Donna Hayes. Nancy Bradford and Victoria Moore will be staffing the nursery and Rodney Wert and Sam Totten will be in the prayer room.Pastor Brad will be leading the time of baptism, membership and reaffirmation of baptism, and sharing about baptism and the meaning it has for our lives and sharing a theme of "The Family of God."The prayer team will meet at 7:30 a.m. for prayer on Sunday morning in the worship center.There will be a time of fellowship in the Christian Activity Center beginning at 8:45 a.m., followed by Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages.The West Salem Trinity UMC will be leading the time of worship for the Grapevine Cluster Service to be held at West Salem Trinity at 6 p.m. The celebration will be surrounding the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem as we celebrate the theme of Palm Sunday. Deb Bryant will be the worship host. Ann Hinds will be sharing in the prayer time and Brad Boyd will be sharing the scriptuer, Luke 19:28-40 with the message title being, "A Symbol of Peace." The volunteer servants for Sunday night will include Phil and Barb Poe, parking lot greeters, Roger and Penny Jacobs as door greeters. Rick and Kammy Goostree will be staffing the nursery and Robin Bethard and Therese Melena will be in the prayer room.The theme of the service will be "Peace."There will be no KIDS Club on Wednesday evening, but we will have Bible study at 6:30 p.m. followed by choir practice and Praise Team practice.On Thursday evening, there will be a time of celebrating the Lord's Supper as we share in the Maundy Thursday experience.Three will be a prayer time from 8 a.m. to noon in the sanctuary of the church and that will be followed by a community Good Friday service at First Presbyterian Church beginning at 12:15 p.m. The Kaskaskia River District will be hosting an all-youth Good Friday event from 3 to 6 p.m. at West Salem Trinity. The Rev. Matt Henson will be leading and sharing in this time together and we are excited that Matt Vollmar, lead singer of Great Romance, will lead our worship time together. The cost is $2 and will include a time of pizza.The Easter Eggstravaganze will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on March 30 at the church. Registration will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. and then registration will be closed as we start activities. There will be carnival games, prize drawings and of course, the Easter egg hunt. This is for those kids ages birth to 11 years of age.The Easter sunrise service at West Salem Trinity UMC will be at 6:30 a.m., followed by a breakfast at the church.
