MT. VERNON —
The new Good Samaritan Regional Health Center campus is “substantially complete” and some doctors are moving in Friday.
Daniel Hoffman, M.D., Faisal Rashid, M.D., Tammy Pike, A.P.N. and Brian Shaheen, M.D., will be the first to make the move to the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center medical plaza, said Victoria Woodrow, director of marketing and public relations.
The medical plaza is connected to the hospital from the garden level through the fourth floor, she said. A number of additional physicians will move to the completed plaza on Dec. 10 and Dec. 14 as well.
Some hospital administrators will also make the move to the new campus ahead of the official patient move-in day of Jan. 20, 2013, Woodrow said.
“Everything is what would be considered to be substantially complete,” she said. “They are working on some final finishing details, which are small details at this point. We are training, doing an extensive training process for our staff to ensure they’re acclimated with the facility, in fact we did several hundred tours of the new facility.”
Staff, physicians and volunteers are taking part in the intensive training for the new site, Woodrow said.
“Each department is doing an orientation as well,” she said. “We’re doing something called ‘A Day in the Life of:’ to test the systems and make sure everything is functioning property from a patient-staff perspective.”
The very first public peek at the new hospital will be the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center Foundation Gala, a ticket-only event scheduled for New Year’s Eve, Woodrow said.
The Glen Miller Orchestra will perform, she said, and hospital staff will be conducting tours to celebrate the completion of the new hospital project.
“It’s going to be a very, very nice event,” she said. “We will ring in the New Year at our new facility.”
Tickets are still available for the gala and may be purchased by calling the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center Foundation office at 241-2319.
The next opportunity for the public to see the completed hospital campus will be community open houses on Jan. 5 and 6, 2013. The open house Jan. 5 will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the following open house will be from 1 to 4 p.m.
“It’s an opportunity for the community to come and get a look at the new facility,” Woodrow said. “It’s an invitation for a first look.”
There will be complimentary refreshments offered after the tours, which will allow the public to see the patient rooms, operating rooms and patient lounges.
The formal blessing and dedication of the new hospital will be held Jan. 7.
