GenFed Robbery, chief says

MT VERNON — GenFed Credit Union was robbed just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Mt. Vernon Police Chief Chris Mendenall, the robbery at GenFed is not related to the robbery which happened Monday afternoon about 3 p.m. at the Jefferson County Schools Credit Union on Broadway.

"They are completely seperate incidents," Mendenall said. "In the first we are looking for two white suspects. In the GenFed robbery, we are looking for a black suspect."

Police are on the scene at this time, and a K-9 unit has been called to help track the suspect, who was last seen going east from the bank between the facility and Mt. Vernon Fire Station 4 on 42nd Street.
