MT. VERNON — — The first Day in the Life of a Prairie Child session of this summer is being held today at the Jefferson County Historical Village. The next session will take place July 9.
With the program, local children get the chance to experience 19th Century living through a variety of games and activities. Each session lasts from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Included in the sessions are academic lessons like spelling bees and ciphering matches, as well as old-fashioned chores like washing clothes by hand.
