Drug warrant sweep nets more arrests

MT. VERNON — Several more drug suspects were rounded up by members of the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday during a drug warrant sweep.

The following individuals, not mentioned in a previous publication, were arrested:

n Freddie Harris, 28, 1200 block of Veterans Memorial Drive, possession of cannabis;

n Earl Jones Jr., 42, of the 400 block of South 18th Street, unlawful delivery of a look alike substance and possession of a controlled substance;

n Michael McKinney, 41, of the 300 block of North 15th Street, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance;

n Holly Essex, 31, of the 2400 block of Wescott, unlawful delivery of cannabis.

A total of 22 persons were being sought on a variety of drug related charges. Three of those being sought are residents of Marion County and information has been forwarded to that jurisdiction, according to a news release.

Additionally, a female wanted on a federal arrest warrant was located and arrested based on methamphetamine related investigations also conducted by the joint Narcotics Division.
