Boil-water orders have been issued for the 2400 block of Casey Avenue; and 2414 and 2406 College Avenue until further notice.

Boil order lifted

A boil-water order for all of Westmont Apartments and all of Halia Crest has been lifted.

Harvest of Blessings Giveaway set

Boyd Christian Church, West Long Prairie Christian Church and Woodlawn Christian Church are partnering together to host a giveaway on Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Woodlawn Village Hall. Items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Early numbers will be assigned beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the east entrance to the village hall. Hauling items will be the responsibility of the recipient, there will be no deliveries. The group is still in need of good used furniture, appliances and household items, no clothing. Please call Tracy Thomas at 237-0145 to make arrangements on any items you would like to donate.

Genealogical Society to meet

The Jefferson County Genealogical Society will meet 1 p.m. Saturday in the Brehm Memorial Library meeting room. Melvin Cochrane will be the speaker, and refreshments will be served. Members and non-members are welcome.

Food Pantry available

The Jefferson County Food Pantry is a joint ministry of First Baptist Church of Woodlawn and Woodlawn Christian Church. It is available for any Jefferson County resident. The pantry is open at First Baptist Church of Woodlawn on the second Thursday of each month. The next date is Thursday, April 11. Pantry hours are 9 to 10 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Please call 735-2191 or 735-2355 for more information.

Mental Health Board funding available

Applications are not available for Jefferson County 708 Mental Health Board funding requests. Applications and instructions may be picked up at the Jefferson County Courthouse County Board office. Completed applications are to be returned by mail by Friday, May 31.

Coin club to meet

The Fairfield Coin Club will meet Sunday, April 14, at Frontier College in Fairfield. Doors will open at 11 a.m., with a meeting and auction at 1:30 p.m. Coin dealers will be present and everyone is welcome to attend.

Doggone Fun Spin Club event set

The Doggone Fun Jefferson County 4-H Spin Club will hold an event for 10 participants ages 10 and older to learn basic pet care and grooming techniques and obedience on April 15, 22, 29 and May 6, 13, 20 and 28 from 6 to 7 pm. each evening at Doggie Styles Salon, 4706 Broadway. Dogs must be six months or older. Registration is required by April 8 by calling 242-0708. The workshop series is offered free by Deb Dixon of Doggie Styles in conjunction with the Jefferson County Extension office.
