Boil order issued

A boil-water order has been issued for all of Neal Drive and the 600 and 700 blocks of North Illinois Highway 37 until further notice.

Lake reception scheduled

The Rend Lake College arts journal, Lake, will hold its reception at 4:30 p.m. April 11, at Pheasant Hollow Winery. Some of the writers and artists featured in the publication will begin speaking at 5 p.m. The student editor, Reis Barnfield of Mt. Vernon, will be the emcee. Copies of the latest issue of Lake will be available for the event. Finger foods will be available. The organizer of the event is Peggy Davis, English literature professor at RLC.

Concert scheduled

The Mt. Vernon Township High School music department will present its annual Pre-Contest Concert tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the high school. The concert will feature preview performances of the symphonic orchestra, concert choir and symphonic band as they prepare for the Illinois High School Association Organizational Contest.

The contest will take place April 12 at Nashville High School. For those who wish to see the performance, the symphonic band will perform at 5 p.m., the symphonic orchestra at 6 p.m. and concert choir at 6:30 p.m.
